چکیده

Cephaloridine ('Ceporin') is a semisynthetic compound, 7[(2-thienyl)-acetamide]-5(i-pyridylmethyl)-5-cephem-4-carboxylic acid betaine, derived from cephalosporin C. This is an antibiotic produced by Cephalosporium acremonium, a fungus isolated from a sewage outfall off the Sardinian coast (Brotzu, I948). The cephalosporins are closely related chemically to the penicillins in that they contain a f3-lactam ring. This is the part of the molecule which almost certainly combines irreversibly with the binding sites on sensitive bacteria. Whereas penicillins contain a fivemembered thiazolidine ring, the cephalosporins have a six-membered dihydrothiazine ring (Fig. i).

Penetration of cephaloridine into the subretinal fluid.

Cephaloridine is a wide-spectrum antibiotic derived from cephalosporin and, despite similarities to penicillin, it can be used in the treament of infections in penicillin-sensitive patients. Riley, Boyle, and Leopold (I968) and Records (I969) have reported the intraocular penetration of cephaloridine into the aqueous after intramuscular and intravenous administration, and Moll, Crawford, and Mc...

Ocular penetration of cephalexin in the rabbit.

The cephalosporin group of antibiotics has gained widespread use in combating resistant infections. Because of the necessity for intravenous administration of cephalothin, and the intramuscular route for cephaloridine, the development of a new member of this series which is effective orally prompted study of its penetration into the eye. This is the first reported study of the passage of cephal...

Penetration of cefazolin, cephaloridine, and cefamandole into interstitial fluid in rabbits.

We compared the penetration of three cephalosporins into interstitial fluid. Interstitial fluid was obtained in rabbits from Silastic tissue cages. Cefazolin, cephaloridine, and cefamandole were administered by the intramuscular route (30 mg/kg per injection). Peak blood levels and interstitial concentrations were studied after a single injection. Interstitial levels were also compared in a thr...

Ascitic fluid cephalosporin concentrations: influence of protein binding and serum pharmacokinetics.

Mongrel dogs with ascites created by inferior vena cava ligation were given cephalothin, cephaloridine, cefazolin, and cefamandole to evaluate the effect of protein binding and serum pharmacokinetics on the distribution of cephalosporins into ascitic fluid. Antibiotics were given intramuscularly (15 mg/kg) every 4 h for a total of eight doses. Antibiotic binding to dog serum and ascitic fluid w...

Risk factors for intraocular penetration of caterpillar hair in Ophthalmia Nodosa: A retrospective analysis

We report risk factors associated with intraocular penetration of caterpillar hair seen at our institute from January 2005 to December 2007. Records of all patients with caterpillar hair induced ophthalmitis (CHIO) were retrospectively reviewed for clinical characteristics, anatomic location of lodgment of the caterpillar hair, treatment methods, and outcomes. Out of a total of 544 cases of CHI...
